🏆 The Hathawariya plant, botanically known as Asparagus racemosus Willd., is believed to have originated in the eastern Mediterranean region and was cultivated by the Romans around 200 BC. This vine-like plant features long, branching green stems and leaves, often with thorns along the stems. Its roots develop into small, white, fragrant tubers. Hathawariya has three main varieties: Maha Hathawariya, Hin Hathawariya, and Katu Rahitha Hathawariya (thornless asparagus).
